KCCure Patient Ambassadors
Forest Hunt
I was diagnosed with stage 3 RCC, and immediately had a total nephrectomy of my left kidney. I already am a sufferer from combat related PTSD. The diagnosis sent me into a tail spin... now after much medication, counseling, and being involved with this support group, I am able to handle this situation better. Being an ambassador allows me to help my fellow warriors.

When I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer, I was terrified. Then to feel so alone ... I didn't know anyone else with kidney cancer. I took part in an adjuvant clinical trial and six years later, I'm still free of disease. But I'm still afraid when it's scan time. Connecting with others helped me after my surgery and I want to do the same for others.

I'm a caregiver to my husband who was diagnosed with aggressive metastatic disease in 2016. Our lives have been impacted in so many ways, physically, financially and emotionally. But I have been helped by others and I want to pay it forward. I want to reach out to others who are going through a diagnosis and help them get access to specialists and empower them to advocate for the best care they can get.
Susan Minter
Being able to provide up-to-date information to others is a win-win for me - because it helps me learn more about my own diagnosis! Education is so important when navigating the world of medicine and knowing how to advocate for yourself is crucial to survivorship. After my diagnosis, I shifted my focus to developing healing art workshops. Creating a healing community has always been a goal of mine.

Sharing experiences helps others know they are not alone and that it is possible to live with cancer. Because of cancer I am unable to work at a profession I love, physical therapy. I have lost some independence and I need help with more things. Staying alive is now my full-time job and it is not easy. I have also learned that I am not alone and have been amazed at the service of others. I don’t take anything for granted now.

Our life changed forever when my husband was diagnosed with Stage IV aggressive clear cell renal carcinoma on New Years Eve of 2018. In the beginning, all I knew was fear and tears until I joined KCCure. The amazing Support we have received is beyond anything I could ever have imagined. Because of KCCure we went for a 2nd opinion and found an AMAZING RCC oncologist. My husband is currently in a clinical trial and responding well. We have Hope AGAIN I want to help others realize there is HOPE.
