KCCure Kidney Cancer Patient Communities

When faced with a new cancer diagnosis, it is common for patients to experience trauma, grief, feelings of isolation and loss of control.

Research shows that patients who participate in on-line health communities receive significant benefits, including:

  • Psychosocial support
  • Enhanced relationships with doctors
  • Increased access to information

But there are also potential risks. Some groups may be more prone to disinformation, predatory scams and conspiracy cures. Poor group composition can amplify statistical bias which can lead to unnecessary anxiety and medical distrust.

KCCure groups are designed to maximize the benefits of shared information while reducing the risk of harmful effects.

Our unique, overlapping communities are built to achieve three objectives:

Provide Support: The needs of people impacted by kidney cancer vary by situation. Our groups are structured to provide individual support, specific for your situation. For that reason, we have groups for different stages of kidney cancer, groups for rare subtypes and a safe space just for caregivers. We know that many people will have multiple situations – so our groups are designed to be overlapping. On average, people belong to two or more communities.

Protect Privacy: KCCure groups are administered to draw in authentic people dealing with kidney cancer and keep fake profiles and spammers out. Our enhanced moderation techniques have reduced harmful disinformation and predatory sales content to less than 0.1% of posts.

Promote Accuracy:  Over half of health information seekers site false or misleading information as their biggest concern when trying to find information about their diagnosis. KCCure groups have built in guides to provide up-to-date, evidence-based information so you can be empowered to advocate for the best care.

If you have been impacted by kidney cancer, find the right KCCure community for you.
